Frequently Asked Questions
Should I have my HVAC equipment serviced and cleaned each year?
- Yes. Dirty Filters, Dirty Fan Motor, Dirty coils all restrict your equipment from operating correctly and will lead to poor performance and breakdowns.
How often should I change my filter?
- We recommend pleated filters and change them every 30 days.
With my heat pump system if my “aux” light is on my thermostat often should I call for service?
- Yes. The “aux” means your electric backup heat is operating. This is normal under very cold temps or when the system is defrosting. If it is on most of the time then the Heat Pump is not keeping up and needs to be looked at.
If my system is always a few degrees behind on my thermostat should I call for service?
- Yes, your system should be able to keep up and it may mean you have a service issue.
Does it matter if my system is not level?
- Yes. If your system is not level it can cause problems.
Does the age of my system matter?
- Yes. The efficiency of old systems is much lower than new equipment. Old systems should be serviced twice per year.
Should my system be making noise?
- No. If you are hearing a new noise from the inside or outside unit you should call for service.
When do I know if my system should be replaced?
- Anything over 12 years old should be considered for replacement.
